Photography Contest

"Happiness" 

The theme for our first photo contest of 2024 is HAPPINESS.

As usual, you may interpret the theme in any way you like. Your entry may be a candid photo of a person showing happiness on their face or a pictorial image of a place that makes you happy. You might enter an image depicting someone engaged in an activity that makes them happy, or it could be a still life of an object or items that bring happiness to someone. Whatever your interpretation of happiness might be, we look forward to seeing your best work!

The images submitted will be curated into 6 "finalists". An overall winner will be selected from the final six and Honorable mentions will be given to those images deemed to deserving of recognition. The winning photographer will receive a $250.00 gift certificate towards any class the Burwell School offers. Additional gift certificates of $100.00 will be awarded for Honorable Mentions. All finalists will receive a snazzy certificate and have their photos featured in our newsletter, on Facebook, Instagram and our blog. These images will also be printed, framed and displayed at the Providence Renewal Center. 

Photos will be judged on technical quality, impact, composition, and creativity. What constitutes happiness is subjective, so any photo that can be interpreted as depicting the emotion will be considered.

CONTEST GUIDELINES

• Photos must be in a high resolution (minimum 2000 pixels) jpeg format. 
• Any form of photo editing is allowed.
• Photos MUST be titled. The filename of your photo should connect the image to the theme in some way. Please do not submit photos with a filename assigned by your camera or editing software. 
• Please provide some additional information about the photo that we can include when exhibiting the final selections. You may provide us with technical information regarding your camera settings when taking the photo. Let us know what editing techniques you may have applied to the image. But best of all, let us know a little of the backstory to the photo; where it was taken, who is in the photo and WHY this photo means happiness to you.
• Photographers may enter up to 5 images to the contest. Only 2 images from a single photographer will be selected as a finalist in the contest.
  
  

Entry Instructions

2. Fill in the entry form.
3. Upload the completed form and your image(s) by clicking the "Submit Entry" button.

Please note that if you do not have a Drop Box account, you will need to create a free account to upload your entry. If you prefer not to create a free Drop Box account, you may submit your entry by email to admin@bsop.ca.
