Personal Lessons

Personal Lessons

Many people appreciate the flexibility and customization of a private lesson. The classes that are offered by the Burwell School of Photography are excellent, but a personal lesson can be even better. A personal lesson is perfect for someone who’s schedule will not allow them to register for one of our regularly scheduled classes. It is also the best way for someone to learn and improve a very specific area or genre of photography. We regularly conduct Personal Lessons for individuals and small groups, and we are happy to customize a private session for you.

Topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Camera Fundamentals: A personalized tutoring session to teach you the major functions of your DSLR or Mirror-less camera. These sessions are great for someone who has just purchased a high-end camera for a once in a lifetime vacation or if you just want to get the most out of your equipment. Customized lessons can be created to teach you how to accomplish very specific styles of photographs or the best techniques for specific genres of photography.

  • Adobe Software Training: Adobe Lightroom Classic CC and Adobe Photoshop CC are two of the industries’ cutting-edge editing tools. Yet without some sort of formal training, it can be nearly impossible to do anything more than the most basic enhancements to your images. Have you have ever tried to learn a Photoshop trick from a YouTube video and just wasted a frustrating hour of your time? Have you ever had issues with your Lightroom Catalog such as “image not found”? Have you ever taken a great photograph and then did not have the knowledge to take it to the next level? If you answered “yes” to any of these, then you will understand why software training is most popular personal lesson.

  • Posing and Lighting: These are two of the most fundamental aspects of portrait photography. A personal lesson in this area can help an intermediate level photographer take a giant step towards professional quality portraits. Applications can include children, families, head shots, and weddings. If you want to create great photographs of people, then this can help you to up your game.

  • Anything Goes: What is it that you are interested in? Have you been struggling to master a technique? Perhaps a few hours one-on-one with an experienced instructor is the boost that you need. Contact us and we can provide a free consultation over the phone or by email to see if a Personal Lesson is right for you.

  • Corporate Groups: Does your business or organization utilize photography on a regular basis? Have you invested in camera systems for your employees or volunteers to use and are not getting the quality results you need? The Burwell School of Photography can also customize a private lesson for your staff. We have helped many organizations improve their visual communications by conducting seminars on site to those employees who are responsible for creating photographs for corporate communications, documenting processes, medical records or web site and social media content. A custom group training session is $1200 plus expenses. Expenses might include travel, classroom rentals, books & supplies or other items needed to provide the specific training requested.

  • Lectures and Break Away Sessions:  A photography lecture or lesson can be a fun and informative break away session for your corporate retreat or convention. Learning a few photography tips and tricks can be a fun way to change things up from the usual agenda; or a discussion on the elements of composition is not only very interesting but has application beyond photography. Composition is a big part of effective visual communications. We can show your team how the proper use of space, colour, tone, texture and shapes can enhance your marketing message, internal communications and social media posts.
