Class 1 Homework

Download this file, extract the RAW file within it and then open it in Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) and adjust and crop it to create a pleasing image.  For extra practice, edit the file’s metadata in Adobe Bridge and update the information with your own information.   When you are done, bring the image into Photoshop (by clicking Open in Adobe Camera RAW), and then resize it (Image menu->Image Size) so that the long side of the image is 1000 pixels.

Go to the File menu and choose Save for Web.  Save the image as a JPEG file and email it to me.

Here is my version of how I would convert that file.

Class 2 Homework

Right-click (Cmd-Click on the Macintosh) on this file and choose Save As (or Save Link As or some variation thereof) to save it to your computer.  Next, open it in Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) and adjust and crop it to create a pleasing image and then open it into Photoshop Elements.

From Photoshop Elements perform the following adjustments to the image:

  • White Balance the image as necessary
  • Remove blemishes from the model’s face
  • Brighten and saturate the model’s eyes
  • (Bonus) Change the model’s eye colour

When you are done editing the image resize it (Image menu->Image Size) so that the long side of the image is 1000 pixels.

Go to the File menu and choose Save for Web.  Save the image as a JPEG file and email it to me.
