- Lightroom 4 Class — I have taken a few classes at Grant MacEwan College on photography and was not very impressed. I thought that because I was in a college setting that I would learn the most there is to learn and get the most for my dollar but I was very wrong. I took a basics class on my new DSLR Camera and found that I was more confused than when I first walked into the class. I feel that there was too much theory and not enough practicality. I then spoke to an individual about taking a course on Lightroom and she highly recommended Paul Burwell at the Burwell School of Photography and said that I would really enjoy his teaching methods and would learn a lot about the software. Paul is very patient and explains things very well. He is very thorough and teaches you step by step on how to do something. We looked at the notes he provided us but also took down a bunch of notes throughout the class and practiced each and every step that there was to learn. I highly recommend this class for people who want to learn Lightroom and I highly recommend taking any classes on photography or any software with Paul Burwell. I will definitely be taking more classes with him in the very near future! ===> Lenda S.
- Portrait Photography Class — I took a college photography course a few tears ago, I learned more in these past 2 days than I did in 4 months full time courses. I found the portrait class to be very informative. It really helped me fine tune some of the areas I needed some help on, and highlighting what does and does not work for posing and why. I am now much more confident to tackle family groups. ===> Heather M.
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — I came to the course with a list of things I wanted to learn over the weekend, by Sunday morning the list was checked off and I was learning things I didn’t even know enough about to formulate a question. Paul Burwell has a very clean clear way of teaching. He uses the “I’ll show you then you do it yourself” method that ensures every student actually performs the lesson on their own computer. His knowledge of the subject matter is remarkable and he will approach the subject from whichever direction it takes to get the point across. I’m stoked and ready to “Lightroom my world”. I got my monies worth by 10:00 Sunday morning. ===> Ray R.
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — Paul was a very knowledgable instructor who was always willing to help and assist his students. His knowledge of the subject was excellent and obviously enjoys photography. ===> David A.
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — Paul made sure this workshop was very laid back, yet very informative and thorough. I was a bit intimidated by the “bootcamp” part of the course name, but Paul is a great instructor and made learning the program easy. I highly recommend this workshop. <<==>>Shaeleen B.
- DSLR Fundamentals Class — If you are wondering what all those buttons on your camera are all about, don’t miss the opportunity to spend two days with Paul. I fell into a love for photography (as opposed to taking pictures) quite by accident when I won my DSLR camera. Unlike most photographers who have moved from film photography to digital photography, I had absolutely no knowledge or aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. and when I started reading my camera manual, it was like reading a foreign language. So I started using my DSLR camera in its auto mode and the built in “scene” modes, with great success (I think). But then I became frustrated with not knowing how to use the camera. Paul’s 2-day bootcamp has given me a whole new outlook on my camera … I now understand how it works and how to make it work for me. Thanks Paul. I look forward to attending more workshops and to continue growing as a photographer. <<==>>Jocelyne

Wildlife Photography Workshop – I learned more in four days than I’ve learned in the last year! <<==>> LO
- Photography Fundamentals Class — I had been photographing animals over the past few years, and had found that I’d reached a level where I was wondering if I was getting the best results, as I have learned about most of the technical aspects of photographing them through experimenting, as opposed to studying them. This course seemed to touch upon the specific practical questions that I’d had in mind recently, and therefore, the timing of it, for me, was perfect. I found that the class served to inform me of a few things that I did not know about composition, and also, confirmed that obtaining the right settings for the conditions is not that difficult; both can make the difference between a good photo, and a striking photo. The small class size makes the instructor very accessible, the students were friendly, and it really was a great experience all around. <<==>> Tracy P.
- Wildlife Intensive Weekend Class — Photography enthusiasts in the Edmonton area are very fortunate to have access to Paul Burwell’s School of Photography. Paul shares not only his knowledge and skill as a professional photographer but also his passion for maintaining the habitat in which there is wildlife to photograph. <<==>> Stuart M.
- DSLR Fundamentals Class — Mr. Burwell’s patience, clarity and presentation was very helpful and encouraging. Any questions – regardless of the person’s experience or knowledge – was answered with warmth, humour and easy to follow terms. His level of professionalism is outstanding. I’m a big fan of Paul Burwell – both his photography and teaching style. I look forward to future courses with Mr. Burwell!! <<==>> Stacey S.
- Wildlife Intensive Weekend Class — The Wildlife Intensive Weekend was an excellent investment of my time and my money. I brought back an album of wildlife photos that I never even dreamed of being able to shoot. A couple of things that I particularly enjoyed were the presentation on the equipment that Paul uses to capture his amazing images and his practicle approach to aquiring the gear. The presentation on the techniques used to get the images was especially helpful…. it puts getting high quality images within my reach now. The critique on the photos we took was really helpful because it was totally constructive and informative… didn’t feel critized but instructed on where to make small adjustment to improve the overall images. <<==>> Ray R
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — This is the second of many workshops I will be attending, put on by the Paul Burwell School of Photography. These workshops are far superior to any book oe online tutorial that is available today….In My Humble Opinion!!! All questions are answered in such a manner that all will learn something from the response. The atmosphere is great and the material presented is second to none!! I would strongly recommend any and all workshops offered are a must attend, everyone from basic beginner to advanced pro everyone will come away with new and exciting knowledge.<<==>> Pat W.
- Wildlife Photography Workshop — Your knowledge of workflow and processing software is the best I have ever seen from an instructor. I could spend much more time at a workshop learning from your instruction. <<==>> MH

Adobe Lightroom 3 Class – I attended the Paul Burwell LightRoom 3 boot camp. I would highly recommend this course or any other that Paul teaches. His knowledge and teaching skills are fantastic. The class was well organized, easy to follow, and full of great info you would not find in a book. I have taken many other courses and Paul’s was definitely the best I have ever attended. I received excellent value for my funds spent on the course. I will definetely sign up for another. (Thanks Paul) <<==>> Darren M.
- Totally experiential and relaxing – best way to learn without trepidation of “screwing up” or fear of annoying the instructor. Strongly recommended as a first time course for the conscientious beginner and the amateur wishing to hone skills.<<==>>JJ
- Photoshop Elements Class — The workshop given by the Burwell School of Photography is a fantastic workshop which I would recommend for anyone who wants to start learning the Photoshop program, brush up on their skills or anyone who wants to better themselves within the photography world. This course is excellent for either amateur photographers who are trying to pick up some new skills as well as avid photographers to go over their Photoshop skills and learn faster ways at doing things/different ways of using the program. There is something within the program for every one. Thank you very much for allowing me to take part in this very informative program. <<==>> Michael N.
- Wildlife Photography Workshops — Paul, I have been to a lot of workshops with a lot of different photographers and yours was by far one of the best. Very relaxing atmosphere. You kept it to a small group, you said 8 people and we didn’t show up to 12, and everyone got along great. Let me know about the loons for next year.
Thanks for everything, hope to see you in the near future. <<==>> BH
- Wildlife Intensive Weekend Class — Before I took Paul’s “Wildlife Intensive Weekend Workshop” I had a very hard time taking photos of wildlife and felt it was next to impossible for me. I love wildlife and always admired the photographers who took breath taking wildlife photos. Paul, in his workshop gave me the knowledge, guidence and field trip experience. The rest was up to my imagination and creativity. In a totally unrelated photography course, I submitted one of my photos from Paul’s workshop as a homework assigment due the same weekend as Paul’s workshop. Comments were made from students that I could sell the photo with extremely positive comments from the instructor. <<==>> Irenva V.

Wildlife Intensive Weekend Class – I found Paul’s Wildlife Tips, Tricks & Techniques intensive Workshop to provide some good insight into getting better wildlife shots and a nice ‘behind the scenes’ look on how professional photos are made. The course was accessible enough in price and content that most anyone could attend and have fun. I found Paul Burwell to be accessible, humble and professional. Most low priced courses are just a big advertisement for an instructor’s expensive courses, but this course had real content and very little upselling. Also most intro courses are all classroom and no fieldwork, but Paul’s course had two distinctly different shoots in the field. For the price, this course was great.<<==>>Tony W.
- DSLR Fundamentals Class — I went into this course not knowing anything about the use or functions of a DSLR camera, when I came out I was alot more confident in my ability to take better pictures and better understanding of how this type of camera works. Paul is very knowledgeable in this area, and I wouldn’t hesitate to partake in another workshop offered by him. <<==>>Jordan G.
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — I attended the Adobe Lightroom 3 Intensive workshop held recently at the Ramada Inn, Edmonton. The workshop was a wise investment, it gave me a real jump start into using the software. I had not used the program before attending the workshop, and experienced Paul to be a great instructor, he utilized the meaning of Intensive… covering a great of information in two days. That couldn’t be done without knowing the software as well as Paul did. I highly recommend if you are upgrading or starting fresh you won’t be disappointed by either time or money that you invest in the workshop. <<==>> Kim Taylor Fine Art Photography Bragg Creek, AB
- Wildlife Photography Workshops — Since I first bought my digital camera approximately 3 1/2 years ago, I have attended many photo workshops from some world famous photographers. None have been as well organized and thought out as Paul’s workshop. Most importantly Paul didn’t shoot a single frame for himself, the entire workshop was about improving the participants skills. It was exceptionally organized as well, moving from relatively easy wildlife shooting to much more difficult animals (foxes scamper very quickly!). The range of opportunities were fabulous. Of course I got excellent photos at the controlled shooting of DDD, but I went into the workshop a pretty good wildlife photographer; I came out a far superior one. I know as I continue my journeys into the wild, I will have much better skills when those golden opportunities occur. <<==>> AJ
- Adobe Lightroom 3 Class — I had been struggling with Lightroom 3 for some time and was becoming more and more frustrated with it (I must admit I’m not a computer wiz). After viewing a few on line tutorials which were very good I became lost very quickly. I had succumb to the idea that indeed my computers, software and cameras were indeed smarter than I. My wife recognizing my frustration and out of the blue said here is a course you should attend…..and it’s in Edmonton!!! I looked at the advertisement and recognized Paul Burwell’s name immediately. Knowing a bit about his photography style and the courses he has offered through his school (Burwell School of Photography) not to mention his reputation within the photography world I registered for the Lightroom Intensive Weekend Workshop. Being a little sceptical on my abilities on the computer and past outcomes with Lightroom I was very pleased find the class size small which afforded all questions to be answered not only too my satisfaction but too the entire classes satisfaction as well. I found his teaching method easy to follow and Paul was a Veritable Gold Mine of information. I have not learned so much in a short period of time as I did on this course. I would recommend this course or any other courses offered by Paul Burwell, and simply say they are a must take and well worth the time!!

A lot of material presented in a short time but presentation was well organized and flowed easily. Instructor knowledge and relaxed enthusiasm made the material easy to digest. <<==>> Brian H.
- Wildlife Photography Workshops — I gained a great deal of knowledge and met many new friends, over the course if the weekend Photo workshop at Triple D Game Farm. The animals are exceptionally well cared for and looked fantastic with their winter coats. Staff at Triple D are very friendly, courteous and go above and beyond to ensure your expectations are met in getting to photograph a wild variety of animals in a safe and efficient manner, all while taking the outdoor conditions into consideration for optimum photography conditions for the different animal species. Instruction was great covering topics such as metering, exposure compensation, exposure modes, changing focus points, histogram & how to utilize, auto focus vs manual and when to use, composure, and basic techniques to get sharper images to name a few. Time between photo shoots, at the triple D offices, was used to illustrate techniques to edit photographs in software such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Viveza & Silver Efex and critiquing photographs from all participants which was extremely insightful. During the photo shoots Paul provided constant reminders to check our camera settings to ensure topics discussed were being practiced and not forgot and also to warn of changing conditions. It was the perfect arrangement, for me, as I wanted to learn as much as possible in a condensed amount of time. Being able to learn new tips & techniques, from others as well as the instructor, and having the ability to use them right away on the beautiful animals and to see the results before you’ve left the workshop was hugely beneficial. Thank you <<==>> Brian S.
- DSLR Fundamentals Class — This was an excellent, open, warm engaging couple of days where my time and money were very well spent. I would highly recommend Paul’s class to anyone wanting to learn how to better use their DSLR camera. Paul is definitely your man. His patience is infinite, as is his knowledge. His ability to explain what you need to know in the simplest of terms with the best examples is extraordinary. Thank you, Paul!<<==>> Valerie
- DSLR Fundamentals Class – The DSLR Fundamentals workshop was an excellent source of information. Paul’s knowledge is incredible!! I will not hestitate to sign up for another session or recommend his school to anyone!! <<==>> Trish S.
- Came back from Paul’s workshop with thousands of great shots! The animals at Triple D are amazing… and Paul tells you exactly what to look for to get the best shots. I’ve learned so much from Paul’s laid back, informative style of teaching! Looking forward to more workshops with him in the future!! <<==>> Anita E.
- I thoroughly enjoyed the Triple D workshop with Paul and came away with great images and information I will use to become a better photographer. An excellent instructor, Paul is open to any question and is thoroughly versed in gear, image creation, and post-processing technique. Thanks Paul for sharing your excellent skills I highly recommend your workshops. <<==>> Lou Ann G.
- The combination of Paul Burwell’s instruction and the animals & trainer from Triple D ranches led to a great experience of being up close & personal with wildlife in their natural settings and provided an excellant skill set development & improvement in the art of Wildlife Photography. <<==>> Brian H.
- Paul puts on a wonderful workshop-he is very knowlegable about Wildlife Photography, the natural history of the animals he phots, is concise, patient, thorough. Paul clearly outlines a “road map” for each and every student on how to attain great wildlife pictures! This includes equipment selection, attaining proper exposure, composition, evaluation of the photos and enhancing the photos on the computer. Now I am planning on taking Lightroom through Paul so I can continue to learn more!! <<==>> Jim
- The trips to the Triple D Farm are a must for any wildlife photographer. Paul’s teaching methods are really good and he is very patient with his students. The facilities are fabulous and the animals are gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every session and will be going back in the future for more sessions. Thanks to Paul and all the staff at Triple D. <<==>> Jacki J.
- This is the first workshop i have taken,It was more than i had expected to be doing or learning. For some one just getting back into taking pictures, It opened my eyes up to what i have been doing wrong, and what i need to change to do it right. It was a very busy week end. the trip to the field was very help full. Paul was very helpful with any question you my need ansers to. A great week end and the other students were great to be with, as every one was there for the same information.
- Paul thank you so much for your time. I really enjoyed this course and would seriously recommend it to others. I learned a lot from you and would love to go out on other shoots with you. You were very patient and I definitely got a lot from your critiques. Your material was explained in a manner that everyone could understand and you are very generous with your knowledge. Thanks again!

I learned so much about photography and not just wildlife. I can apply it to other aspects of my photography not just wildlife. Made it very comfortable and not afraid to ask questions. Would recommend this course to other people. Postponed my trip overseas and was very glad that I did. Well worth the money.
- Thank you Paul for a wonderful workshop experience. The information that you provided was presented in an applicable, relevant manner. You were focused on your students and their needs. I have felt that my photography has taken a boost not only technically but in a practical way too. I am glad that I have not invested a lot of money into equipment (yet!) as your helpful advice will allow me to make more informed decisions as I move into a more advanced SLR system of camera and lenses. I had a lot of fun in the class and in the field. What a wonderful opportunity to take the skills learnt and immediately apply them in the field. The added bonus was having you critique them too. You will certainly see me sitting in a class or on a trip you lead in the future. <<==>> Cathy H
- Wildlife Photography Workshops – Paul Burwell was recommended to me by professional photographer David Middleton. And it’s been an excellent experience. Paul has a great working relationship with Jay at the Triple D. Together they really try to provide the best opportunities for participants to get the best shots they can. Paul isn’t doing his own photography during the workshop. So he’s always available to answer questions or remind us to “check your histograms”. Seeing healthy, happy animals in a natural setting is an awesome experience all by itself. Then given the variety of animals means you can come away from a short workshop with a portfolio of images that would have taken weeks or months to get in the wild; without nearly as much success. The best recommendation I can give for Paul Burwell’s Wildlife Photography Workshops is that I’ve signed up for two more of them. <<==>> RD
- Wildlife Photography Workshops — Naomi and I want to thank you for a great workshop experience. I am still quite a novice with the camera, but I came away with a vocabulary word that I am now dreaming about and can’t get out of my head. That word being “HISTOGRAM”. The importance of the histogram was certainly the lesson of the workshop that I truly enjoyed learning more about. You did a marvelous job of encouraging and helping a novice like me getting on track. I certainly would like to join you for another photographic adventure and I enourage anyone who might be considering going with you to jump on board. You will not be disappointed. <<==>> BB
- As for my experience on the trip and with you, I don’t know how to summarize just how great this whole trip was. You are a true gentleman, funny, knowledgeable, passionate about your subjects, eager to share, and your joy is infectious. I will travel again with you , and would recommend you to anyone who asks. In fact, I already have. <<==>> GS
- Paul’s workshops are held at outstanding locations and times. Unlike many others, he does not photograph during workshops, instead, concentrates on understanding each participant’s needs and helping them improve their skills and results. If you are interested in reaching the next level in your photography in a small group environment with someone who is thoroughly prepared, knowledgeable and responsive to your individual needs, I can highly recommend Paul Burwell. <<==>> HL
- Wildlife Intensive Weekend Class — I want to say that in the two days of shooting I think I learned more in this workshop with you than I have in any other workshop I have been on in a long time. You are really a terrific teacher — low-key, and very effective. The critiques were right on — and I learned from others’ critiques as well as my own. I have already ordered Viveza and a ColorSpace UDMA — and next will be Lightroom. <<==>> BC
- First time I have felt like I was really at a ‘workshop’. Paul was fully prepared with his materials and very willing share his knowledge. When out on location he was there for ’us’ – he only looked at his camera to provide feedback on settings, meter readings, etc. and the rest of the time he ‘walked the line’ – giving us hints, advise and encouraging us to move our location; stand up more, get lower in the shot……all things that some of us tend to forget in the heat of the shot. His critique sessions when we were not shooting were honest without being brutal! Great insight to how it could have been framed differently, lit more dramatically or enhanced in the editing processing using a different crop for example. All in all – I want to take more workshops with Paul. <<==>> CT
- I would highly recommend both Triple D and Paul to any of my photo friends. This was an incredible experience that I still can’t believe I got to participate in. The trainers were amazing and I applaud them for caring for the animals’ safety to the level they do – as well as ours. At all times I felt safe and felt the animals were in very good hands. Paul has a terrific sense of humor and a very casual way to teaching photography that makes people feel at ease. Over the next couple of years, I plan to visit Triple D for at least two different sessions (January is my top priority). Thanks for an awesome experience. <<==>> SL

The Wildlife Intensive Workshop was most enjoyable. Paul covered the essentials expertly and with good humour, the field trip was excellent and over way too fast, and I met lots of nice people. The whole experience has boosted my enthusiasm to get out there and PPP. <<==>>Marcia M.
- I’d like to say my experience with Paul Burwell and his workshop was unique and refreshing–and novel, in that he was there for his class——not for himself or personal image collection. His critique segment was excellent-and suggestions delivered gently, with care and forethought.–He is a real Pro–who genuinely cares for his students, and really works hard to help them leave his workshop with a greater knowlegde, than when they’d arrived.–He is there to tutor and coach–and yet, is not pushy or rushed..I am grateful to have found Paul, his expertise and gentle manner have set for me, a new standard in what I’d like to recieve in way of a photography workshop.–He even went slowly step-by-step during critique over how he might minimally post process our images.—–This ! was an outstanding experience, and I’d consider it a real privilege to have Paul allow me to accompany him in another workshop. <<==>> DT
- Paul does an outstanding job in his workshops. He is always approachable and very practical in his instruction and advice. <<==>> Michelle N.
- If having the pleasure of taking photographs of well trained and well cared for wildlife in great settings in what you want, then this workshop is for you. Mr. Burwell also assists you by preparing you for the experience by providing a helpful book. Check your histogram, you can move location and thus background, capture the eyes and detail of the animals…all great advise. Have fun! <<==>> JL
- Photoshop Elements Class — I was very very impressed with this course! The notes are awesome and Paul did an excellent job presenting the information. I love that he stayed on topic the entire time. Thanks! <<==>> JH
- Photoshop Elements Class — Materials & Instruction were excellent. Presentations fast & humorous- the time flew by! <<==>> LH
- I enjoyed this course!! Paul is an excellent instructor! <<==>> BD

The workshop with Paul Burwell at Triple D was a wonderful experience. In addition to the opportunity to photograph a diversity of wild animals in lovely natural settings, the extra benefits of this
workshop provided by Paul included excellent on location and classroom instruction. The critiques of each group members efforts provided learning opportunities for all. In addition the availability
Paul provided to each individual for questions specific to their concerns and level of expertise was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this photographic journey. <<==>> LG
- Paul is awesome! He is knowlegeable, kind and friendly <<==>> AN
- Well presented and organized! I would recommend to anyone. <<==>> JL
