Join Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine contributing editor and professional photographer Paul Burwell for our Photoshop Elements class that will immerse you into Adobe’s Photoshop Elements software. Photoshop Elements is an affordable alternative to the professional version of Photoshop CS5.  It is able to perform virtually every task the average photographer requires when editing their digital photographs.

During our Photoshop Elements class, we’ll spend the entire course together helping you learn about developing a workflow in Photoshop Elements.  This workflow will take you from importing your photographs from your camera, to processing them to look their best and then finally to outputting them for email, the web or print.

This class allows you to have hands-on practice with my images, along with your own.  You’ll learn how to optimize your images to make them look their best, process large collections of images and learn the techniques you’ll need to find those images in the future.  Additionally we’ll discuss best-practice techniques for ensuring that your image collection sticks around and survives a hard drive crash or other calamity.

This class is targeted towards photographers with a beginner to intermediary level of experience with Photoshop Elements.

You will need to bring a computer (Mac or Windows, Laptop or Desktop) loaded with the latest edition of Adobe Photoshop Elements Software (Version 10).  If you don’t wish to purchase the latest edition, you may install the free 30-day trial version of the software before arriving at the first class.  Please visit Adobe’s web site to download the 30-day trial version.  Contact us with questions.

The workshop given by the Burwell School of Photography is a fantastic workshop which I would recommend for anyone who wants to start learning the Photoshop program, brush up on their skills or anyone who wants to better themselves within the photography world. About Your Instructor for the Photoshop Elements Class

In addition to being the owner of the BSOP, Paul Burwell is a professional photographer, writer, educator and enthusiastic naturalist with over twenty years experience working with and educating adults. He is a contributing editor and regular columnist with Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine. Paul has been a finalist in the Veolia ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ worldwide competition both in 2009 and 2010 and was named a ‘Top Wildlife Shooter’ by Popular Photography Magazine in 2010.

What You Will Learn During our Photoshop Elements Class

  • Importing, tagging, finding, comparing your photos

Prerequisites for the Photoshop Elements Class

As a prerequisite, you should be familiar with your computer’s operating system and be able to perform the following tasks without assistance:

  • copy a file from one folder to another
  • be able to competently work with the computer mouse and keyboard (click, double-click, ctrl-click, shift-click, etc.)

Equipment Required for the Photoshop Elements Class

At a minimum, you’ll want to have…

  • A Mac or Windows computer (either a desktop or laptop) with the latest version of Adobe’s Photoshop Elements software installed on it.
    • You’ll need to bring this computer to class so that is something to take into consideration when deciding between a laptop and a desk top computer.
