Join Daryl Benson, a master of landscape composition and design, for our full featured Nature and Landscape Photography Class.  Daryl is a master of nature and landscape photography.  During this workshop, he will teach you the tools and techniques he uses to achieve his works of art.

For the photographer who loves fresh air and the opportunity to maybe get a little dirty, there are few more satisfying pursuits than Nature and Landscape photography. Our class will teach you about the equipment and techniques necessary to produce captivating images.

Beyond that, Daryl Benson will help you develop your vision, to really see what your camera is capturing, to help you produce high quality images.

About Your Instructor for the Nature and Landscape Photography Class

Daryl is a contributor to Photo Life, Photo News, Outdoor Photographer and PC Photo magazines. Self-published three books; A Guide to Photographing the Canadian Landscape, Alberta, a collection of scenic images celebrating Alberta’s Centennial and Canada, a pictorial gift book of Canadian images.

Professional photographer for 30 years with the bragging rights to having set foot and photographed on all seven continents. Contributor to Masterfile and Getty Stock Agencies. Have given presentations and workshops on photography to camera clubs and associations around the world, from Auckland, New Zealand to Yellowknife, NWT.

Advice to other aspiring photographers, “always drink upstream from the herd”.

What You Will Learn in our Nature and Landscape Photography Class

This is a 12 hour intensive class that covers all aspects of creating Landscape photography images including:

  • Selection and use of equipment:
    • tripod and heads;
    •  filters;
    • lenses: from ultra-wide to telephoto;
    • transporting your gear.
  • Focus and depth of field.
  • Exposure control:
    • graduated neutral density filters;
    • digital dark room techniques;
    • creative choices.
  • Working with different kinds of light:
    • directional lighting: side, back and front;
    • sunrise and sunset;
    • overcast days.
  • Creating dynamic compositions.

The class also includes the opportunity to get some hands-on experience during an excursion to perform some nature and landscape photography with Daryl available to help you with composition and learning to see creatively.  Daryl will be there with the students to help you make sure you get the right shots, in camera.

What to Expect

  • 12 Hours of Instruction
    • Includes the opportunity for hands-on Nature and Landscape photography followed by image critique and instruction
  • Hot lunch on all days consisting of a choice of main course, 2 salads, soup, side dishes and dessert

Equipment Required for our Landscape Photography Class

  • a digital SLR or camera with fully adjustable manual controls
  • a lens or lenses covering at least moderate wide angle to short telephoto focal lengths
  • (recommended) a tripod capable of supporting the weight of your camera equipment
  • (recommended) a shutter release cable or wireless shutter release
  • (optional) a circular polarizing filter
